The Signal: EP024
January 28th, 2007
The Signal EP024: This time out, we're heavy on the indie rock and the ska-punk. And I can't seem to let an episode go by without either an interesting cover (or three) and an amazing Swedish band (or two). I hope it helps to broaden your own music collections and give these wonderful bands a few more sales.
We didn't hear any complaints about using SendSpace with the last episode, so we're going with them again. The track list is hidden after the "More" tag so that you can listen to the mix first, then find out who's who later. Leave yourself some surprises.
Or not. 'Sup to you.
Cook It Up!
January 25th, 2007What if beatboxers could make beats like Food Network hosts make meals? Cross Julia Child with Biz Markie and what do you get? Hey, do you like beatboxing and also like things that are funny?
Have I got something for you! And I stole it from Cracked.com's weblog!
A Musical Endurance Test
January 20th, 2007Hypocritical Mass asks: "Can you watch this entire music video?"
Warning: contains a woodpecker from outer space.
Vinyl Rescue: Lorre
January 15th, 2007
Rescued from vinyl: two classic radio plays starring a gifted actor known primarily for playing creepy villains.
The Signal EP023
January 14th, 2007
The Signal EP023: A mix of rock & pop from around the world with some rocksteady, doo wop and blues added to satisfy with a full, steady flavor. The episode targets your T-Zone, much like the doctor-recommended Camel cigarettes of the 1940s and we're proud of our blend's richness and ability to satisfy.
Tracklist & comments are available after the More link. As always, I recommend giving the mix a listen once before looking.
Also: we're trying a new download service, SendSpace, with this episode. It comes highly recommended, but if anyone has trouble getting the episode, please comment. I can always put up a YouSendIt link as well.
The Sea Dog from Sweden
January 8th, 2007More Swedish music! Free downloads of El Perro Del Mar, aka Sara Assbring, a musical collaborator with Jens Lekman.
Sweden: World Pop Capital
January 8th, 2007Maybe it's something in the water, but Swedish bands have been knocking it out of the park recently. Between Peter, Bjorn & John, The Concretes, and Jens Lekman, many of my favorite musical discoveries of the last year came from Sweden.
Did the members of Abba pass away and-- Highlander-like-- have their energy disperse equally among the remaining pop musicians?
Anyway, scoop up a full EP from another Swedish outfit, Bedroom Eyes, just by visiting their site. And then join me in waiting for more distribution deals to be set up between the U.S. and Sweden so we don't have to pay import prices for all these great bands.
