Beyond Belief: A Thrilling Adventure Hour
May 26th, 2012
I don't like to assume the worst about people, so I'm going to assume you already know about The Thrilling Adventure Hour, that collection of playwrights and comedians and actors who do old-timey radio plays in live performance and put them out in new-timey formats, like mp3s via RSS feed.
And of course you probably know that stand-up comedian Paul F. Tompkins has a recurring role in their best recurring show, Beyond Belief, as half of Frank and Sadie Doyle, upper-class alcoholics who also know a few things about the supernatural and have adventures and whatnot.
So what I've done for you is gone through the RSS feed and pulled all the links together for just the Beyond Belief segments. (But by all means, go listen to their other shows and see how you like them... Sparks Nevada: Marshal on Mars is another of my all-time favorites.)
The Signal: EP082
December 31st, 2011
The Signal: EP082 - You may have noticed that the increasingly rarely used signalstation.com domain has shifted around a bit. Now that most of my blogging occurs over at my Google+ account, this domain is just becoming a repository for the occasional music mixes I make for our amusement. Speaking of which, here's a new one, just in time for 2012.
The file is only available for a limited time, track listing is in the id3 tags, notes are below. Hey, maybe this will be the year when the Y2K problem finally hits! Does everyone have their survival kits ready?

Jonsi: Go - Streaming at NPR
April 5th, 2010There's only one more day to listen, but if you see this in time, you might want to listen to the new album by Jonsi, of Sigur Ros. The album is called "Go," the first two tracks are exuberant and amazing pop music, production is by Nico Muhly (who's appeared on a Signal mix) and it's all streaming here if you're interested:

(I mention the first two tracks because I'm listening to it myself right now. It may very well stay this amazing the whole way through. But if not, at least it's two songs in a row that are gorgeous.)
