The Signal: EP063
February 23rd, 2010
The Signal: EP063 music for tough guys and tough streets! But! Even though they hold uzis... every once in awhile this crummy world makes 'em cry! And they're not afraid to cry! Heck no! But they do bust every one of those tears in the chops! So they don't get any ideas!
Okay, enough exclamation points. It's the usual deal, good people. File's available for a limited time. Track list is in the id3 tags. Notes are behind the cut... unless you followed a link here, in which case, here are the notes:
The Signal: EP062
January 21st, 2010
The Signal: EP062 - This time out, we have a not-so-secret theme. Friend-of-SignalStation Ray introduced us to a slew of Japanese bands and, since we're away from the home computer, we thought it would be an interesting challenge to pull together a mix from only that source material.
The image is courtesy of Flickr user Okinawa Soba, who has a bunch of cool images licensed under Creative Commons. I put the image together using two of his originals. The linked download page will only be up for a limited time. Track list is in the id3 tags. The hidden ingredient is love. Notes are below the cut.
Let me know if you dig it.
The Signal: EP061
January 9th, 2010
The Signal: EP061 - A not-so-dangerous game of cat and mouse! Thank you all for coming, especially those of you who are new to The Signal. (And we know there's at least one of you.) We're very glad that these mixes aren't only enjoyed by just us... though don't get me wrong, they get a lot of use in my personal mp3 player as well. It's always a pleasant surprise when I put the thing on random, then hit a Signal mix without realizing it and find myself thinking "Man, I'm lucking out! I love all these songs!"
I guess that happens less often since I've started layering sounds into the mixes. They can't pass for random songs as easily anymore. Things change. Seasons change. This big blue marble keeps on turning. ID3 tags continue to have the track listing. Mixes are available for a limited time. This is just a hobby thing, shared with friends. Let's leave the search engines out of it. Notes are after the jump, if you're viewing this on The Signal weblog, or in subsequent paragraphs if you went straight here.
The Signal: EP060
December 9th, 2009
The Signal: EP060 - I am so happy with this mix, folks, seriously. I started with just a big pile of music and then it all fell together into a thematic roughly-45-minute musical accompaniment to any occasion that includes drowning. Damn it's cold in this apartment. So yeah, music about dying, cold and wet. Winter is here and it needs a soundtrack.
The mix will be available for a limited time only. The tracklist is included in the id3 tags because I don't want this mix to be Google bait. This is for you and me, baby, the world can stay out of this. I have some notes after the cut, but they're not necessary to enjoy the mix. This is primarily because music is good enough on its own and does not need additional words from me, but additional words are there if you want them.
What else do you need to know.
The Signal: Halloween 2009 mix
October 17th, 2009The Signal: oh I'm like totally so scared - A mix of ghost-tacular spook-arific fantasmagodgicalistic tunes for your entertainment. Can also be used for purification ceremonies and the banishing of unwanted spirits. Available for a limited time, downloaded from elsewhere, track list in the id3 tags. Notes after the cut.
Also: BOO! Ha ha ha! SCARED YOU, you fraidy cat! It's only text on a screen! (I hope I do not ironically die from text on a screen someday.)
