The Signal: EP045

The Signal: EP045 - Proof of settling in at the new place, or evidence of procrastination when it comes to unpacking? This mix could go either way.
The usual: Available for a limited time, full of eclectic music and sounds from electronica to klezmer-infused swing to the sound of the suburbs to pop from Europe. Tracklist is in the id3 tags. Comments are below the More cut. Feedback is appreciated, but not required.
The New Neighborhood: El Cerrito

So we're starting to settle in to the new place, get to know our way around the neighborhood, etc. And we're very happy we moved to El Cerrito. There was so much we had merely gotten used to in Hayward that it's been eye-opening to actually be excited about where you live and what that puts you in proximity to.
Ong Bak 2 demo reel
Tony Jaa's branching out with Ong Bak 2, using mixed martial arts and weapons instead of just the Thai boxing of the first film. Which is okay, since plot-wise, there's no connection to the first film. Check out the demo reel to start the horrible anticipation for the next big martial arts film to come out of Thailand.
REC'ed to the Top
Hey, that's interesting. A recent recommendation that I wrote on Amie Street is featured on their front page today. I wrote a REC (as Amie Street lingo puts it) for Dani Siciliano's cover of Nirvana's "Come As You Are."
Signalstation: Crime-Fighter!
Thanks for hanging in there, loyal readers, while we got settled in at the new digs. We've got a new computer to replace the one that made an escape out of a car's trunk during our move, so there's plenty of searching for software during our continued unpacking efforts. But there's no reason we can't get back to posting.
So here's something interesting. Signalstation visitors may recall that I have a collection on photos on Flickr called "Hayward is Falling Apart," where I collected photos showing Hayward in decline.
Well one of the photos of gang graffiti got an interesting comment last week. A stranger came along, offering to paint over the graffiti if I would let him know where the picture was taken.
And it happened. The fence received a new coat of paint. Hayward has money put aside for clean-up projects and Flickr became a tool in spotting areas that need help. How cool is that?
